C2D's achievements in the Littoral presented to the public in Douala

It was on the occasion of the first open house held on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at the Akwa village hall.

For the first time in thirteen years of implementation in Cameroon, the Debt Reduction and Development Contract (C2D) has opened its doors to the public in the city of Douala. The ambition of the C2D was to promote the local achievements of the C2D in the Littoral Region. This was done through classroom presentations (PowerPoint and videos) as well as exhibitions in stands.

Many visitors, including the French Ambassador, accompanied by the AFD Regional Director, the AFD Director in Cameroon and the Government Delegate to the Douala Urban Community, were able to exchange views with speakers and exhibitors and appreciate the many achievements of the C2D in the locality.

It should be recalled that in the first two C2Ds, the Littoral Region has benefited from many achievements in sectors as varied as infrastructure, agriculture and rural development, education and health, etc.  In the field of infrastructure, for example, C2D, in its objective to improve the mobility conditions of rural populations, financed road maintenance and the establishment of breakpoints on 284 km of rural roads as well as the rehabilitation of 182.4 km of coastal tracks. The C2D also contributed to the financing of the construction of the 2nd bridge over the Wouri, the rehabilitation of 14.2 km of road networks, the construction of 6.16 km of access roads to isolated districts. Thanks to C2D funding, the Master Urban Plan (MUP) and Land Use Plans (LUP) were implemented. At the moment, C2D funding is contributing to the construction of nearly 48 km of drains to channel rainwater in the city of Douala. The development of the Douala municipal shower junction, the asphalting of Roger Milla Avenue and the rehabilitation of the old Bonabéri road are among the most visible achievements of the C2D in Douala.

The C2D Open House in Douala is the first of a series of events that will be held in different regions of Cameroon. The ambition for the programme is to get as close as possible to the people, the main beneficiaries of the achievements and actions
